We’re so excited about kicking off this new chapter of Threadless. We’ve always been all about getting our community of artists involved and giving artists a solid platform to get their art out there. Artist Shops and Creative Resources is the newest way we’re doing this, and we’re all really excited about this new frontier.
But what are Artist Shops? What’s this blog for? What are birds? We may not know the answer to that last one, but we can help you answer the rest (and other big questions) below:
What are Artist Shops?
Our Artist Shops are basically a free and easy way of building your own online store. You sell your art and schwag, we do all the busywork so that you have more time to do what you love (sign up here if you haven’t already).
How are Artist Shops different from just selling on Threadless?
When you start an online store on your own, that means you have to take care of the site, the sales, the whole damn thing. And selling through Threadless is great (we’re biased) but also means that while we take care of the heavy lifting, you have less control over what designs get sold and how much you can customize your page.
Artist Shops give you the best of both worlds – the customizability and personalization of your own online store with all the convenience benefits of selling through Threadless.
How are Artist Shops different from other ecommerce platforms?
Unlike other ecommerce sites, your Artist Shop is your standalone site. People can access it through Threadless, but it’s your domain name, your pricing, your art, and looks how you want it to look. You don’t even have to have our logo in your shop. Oh, and did we mention it’s totally free?
But we still take care of the product manufacturing, fulfilment and shipping, and customer service for you.
We deal with the annoying stuff, freeing up time for you to make more amazing art.
So when do I get famous?
Keep in mind: art may be fun, but it’s also business. We can do the heavy lifting behind the scenes for you, but when it comes to promoting your shop, your product, your brand – that’s up to you.
But don’t worry, we’re not throwing you to the internet wolves – we’re here to help.
